Christine Van Buskirk designed this charming 55" x 68" quilt for Michelle Palmer's Quilting Bee collection. Fussy cut the 6 motifs with quilting and gardening motifs from the panel, border with strips as instructed, and 6 of the blocks are done! For the remaining 6 blocks, fuse and appliqué 3 hearts from the text print and 3 hearts from the bee hive toss to background squares with a decorative by machine or by hand if you prefer. A full-size heart template is provided in the pattern. Follow the manufacturer's directions for using the fusible web you prefer. Frame each of the heart blocks with pieced hourglass blocks as instructed and illustrated in Christine’s step-by-step Figures.
Assemble the 12 blocks with sashing strips, alternating the blocks as shown in the quilt diagram. Fussy cut the strips for the middle border to center a row of quilt blocks in each border strip. Add the 3 borders to the completed quilt center. Layer, quilt in the ditch or with a quilting or gardening theme, and bind. Don't forget to add a signed and dated label to the back!
